As if losing Clint Irwin to injury wasn't bad enough, now comes word that Toronto FC might have to make do without Michael Bradley.
Bradley just returned to Toronto after being on international duty with the US national team at the recently-concluded Copa America Centenario, but has come back with a knee injury. It is unclear whether Bradley will miss any significant amount of time, but TFC head coach Greg Vanney does not believe the knock to be all that serious.
"Hopefully [he'll be back] pretty soon," Vanney told reporters on Tuesday. "I don't think it's a significant thing by any means."
The 28-year-old Bradley, who has earned mixed reviews for his performances with the US at Copa America, is currently in Toronto for a medical evaluation. He seems all but guaranteed to miss Wednesday's decisive second leg of the Canadian Championship finals against the Vancouver Whitecaps, meaning TFC will likely have to try and win the title without him in addition to the injured Irwin (quadriceps) and Jozy Altidore (hamstring).
Bradley was substituted in the 79th minute of the USA's 1-0 defeat to Colombia in the third-place game this past Saturday. He had played every minute of the tournament prior to that.
For Toronto, Bradley has played in 12 games and delivered one assist this season. The US captain last played at the club level on May 21.
