Matias Laba will have one more member of his fan club when the 2016 MLS season rolls around next week.
The Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder announced Thursday on Twitter the birth of his first child, a baby boy born Monday in his native Argentina.
A team spokesman told MLSsoccer.com that Laba left the Whitecaps from Portland, Ore., where the club is currently training while participating in the Simple Invitational preseason tournament, on Saturday for Buenos Aires to be with his wife, Camila, for the birth. Young Laba weighed in at a healthy 3.43kg (about 7.5 pounds for you Americans) and is named Bautista Laba Freijomil.
Congrats to the Laba family from MLSsoccer.com!
