Orlando lands Allen from NYCFC, signs Pinho, re-signs Powers

TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:Roster Update


Orlando City SC made a trio of roster moves on Monday, announcing that they acquired right back R.J. Allen in a trade with NYCFC, signed striker Stefano Pinho from NASL club Miami FC and re-signed midfielder Dillon Powers.


Allen was acquired from NYCFC in exchange for Orlando’s third-round pick in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. The 27-year-old began his MLS career under Orlando head coach Jason Kreis in New York, where he started 42 of his 53 regular season appearances in three years. He had three assists in 15 regular season appearances and 10 starts in 2017. His six assists in 2016 were tied for most in MLS by a defender.


Pinho, 26, joins Orlando after spending the last three seasons in NASL. He played last year with Miami FC, scoring 17 goals in 27 appearances to help the club to the NASL title game. Prior to signing with Miami, Pinho scored five goals in 25 appearances for Minnesota in 2016 and hit the back of the net 16 times in 23 games for Fort Lauderdale too win the NASL Golden Ball in 2015. He scored a hat trick against Orlando in Miami’s 3-1 win over the Lions in the fourth round of the 2017 US Open Cup.


Pinho grew up in the youth system of Brazilian club Fluminense and was selected by the Colorado Rapids in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft but not signed. He has a Green Card and won’t occupy an international slot.


Powers remains in Orlando after initially being acquired in a July 25 trade from Colorado. He made six regular season appearances and four starts for Orlando. He had his option declined by the Lions following the season, but will stay with the club on a new contract. The 26-year-old has 14 goals and 26 assists in 142 appearances in his five-year MLS career.
