Hany Mukhtar is usually at the heart of Nashville SC’s success, a fact that's earned him MLS Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire honors for Week 16 of the 2022 campaign.

The Designated Player scored twice in a 3-1 win at D.C. United's Audi Field, tallying in the 45th and 50th minutes to help earn three road points.

Mukhtar has 13 goal contributions in 2022, which is tied for the MLS lead, while he’s scored or assisted on nearly 60% of Nashville’s goals this season. He’s scored multiple goals eight times in a match since joining the Music City side in 2020.

The 27-year-old German leads all players with 41 goal contributions (24 goals, 17 assists) since the start of 2021. He’s now won MLS Player of the Week four times since arriving for Nashville’s expansion campaign, helping fuel a 2021 Landon Donovan MLS MVP runner-up bid.

Nashville sit fifth in the Western Conference standings at their season’s halfway point, chasing a third straight Audi MLS Cup Playoffs berth. They return to league action July 3 when hosting Portland Timbers at GEODIS Park (8:30 pm ET | MLS LIVE ON ESPN+), plus will face Orlando City SC midweek for the last US Open Cup semifinal spot.

The MLS Player of the Week presented by Continental Tire is selected each week of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while a Twitter fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio and online media.
