Below is a selection of the notable performances and moments from the 15 matches played on the 12th matchday of the 2025 MLS regular season on Saturday, May 10 and Sunday, May 11.

Highlights of the matchday included:

  • In a rematch of 2024 MLS Cup presented by Audi, the New York Red Bulls dominated the LA Galaxy 7-0, tying the largest margin of victory (plus-seven) in an MLS Cup rematch the following season (Chicago Fire in 2001). It was also only the second time in club history the Red Bulls scored seven goals in a regular season game (May 21, 2016).
  • Each of the four players tied atop the MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi standings with eight goals all found the net at least once on Matchday 12 – Cristian ‘Chicho’ Arango (San Jose Earthquakes), Tai Baribo (Philadelphia Union), Hugo Cuypers (Chicago Fire FC), and Brian White (Vancouver Whitecaps FC).
  • Mother's Day Special: Portland Timbers midfielder Santiago Moreno scored an outstanding bicycle kick goal and celebrated with his mom in the stands for Mother's Day weekend (Watch Here).
  • Orlando City SC forward Martín Ojeda recorded his first career MLS hat trick in the 3-3 draw against the New England Revolution, joining Cyle Larin (twice) as the only two players in club history to produce a regular season hat trick.
  • Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andrew Rick contributed an assist on the club’s opening goal of the game, becoming the youngest ‘keeper (19 years, 100 days old) in MLS history to tally an assist.
  • Of the seven Eastern Conference teams that were on the road on Matchday 12, only one came away victorious – CF Montréal, who defeated New York City FC, 1-0, at Yankee Stadium.

New York Red Bulls Get MLS Cup Revenge With 7-0 Win

In a rematch of 2024 MLS Cup presented by Audi, the New York Red Bulls got revenge and defeated the reigning champions LA Galaxy in a dominant 7-0 win on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium (Watch Highlights Here).

New York’s seven goals were scored by Emil Forsberg (two), Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (two), Cameron Harper, Dennis Gjengaar, and an own goal by Galaxy defender Miki Yamane. Forsberg contributed to four of the seven goals, tallying two goals and two assists, including a sensational free kick in the 50th minute (Watch Here). With his performance, the Swedish international became the second player in club history to record multiple goals and multiple assists in a regular season match, joining Antony De Avila (July 13, 1997).

The historic result marked the second time in club history the Red Bulls scored seven goals in a regular season match, last doing so on May 21, 2016 against New York City FC. The win also equaled the largest margin of victory in an MLS Cup rematch in league history, which was also a 7-0 thrashing by the Chicago Fire over the Kansas City Wizards on July 4, 2001.

Martín Ojeda Hat Trick Caps Orlando-New England Thriller

Orlando City SC and the New England Revolution played to a back-and-forth 3-3 draw on Saturday night at Inter&Co Stadium, featuring standout performances in attack. Orlando’s three goals were scored by Martín Ojeda, marking the first hat trick of his MLS career. Ojeda joins Cyle Larin (twice) as the only two players in club history to record a hat trick in the regular season, with Larin last doing so on September 25, 2015.

In a thrilling contest, Orlando took an early two-goal lead in the first half thanks to Ojeda, but New England would level the scoring after a pair of goals in a six-minute span before the halftime whistle (Watch Here). Ojeda completed his hat trick from the penalty spot in the 55th minute but the Revolution equalized again through captain Carles Gil with five minutes to go. Gil’s goal was his 45th in MLS regular season action, tying Teal Bunbury for the fourth most in club history.

Orlando will next host Charlotte FC on Wednesday, May 14 (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV), while New England will return to action on Saturday, May 17 when they face the San Jose Earthquakes (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV) in a match featuring familiar faces on both sides.

Ryan Kent and Danny Musovski Leading New-Look Sounders Attack

After a 3-1 victory on the road against Houston Dynamo FC, Seattle Sounders FC are unbeaten in their last five matches with four of those being victories. Due to injuries to multiple attacking players to begin the season, the Sounders have been led by an unexpected duo up front – Danny Musovski and Ryan Kent.

For Musovski, the 29-year-old forward opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the match, marking his fifth-straight game with a goal. Musovski is the fourth player in club history to score in five-consecutive matches and the first to do so since Raúl Ruidíaz in 2018-19 (six matches).

In his first MLS start, Kent contributed another assist for the Sounders after providing two off the bench against St. Louis CITY SC on Matchday 11. Kent, who joined the club on March 31, became the fastest player in club history to register his first three career assists, doing so in just 116 minutes.

Seattle is now up to fourth in the Western Conference standings (19 points, 5-3-4) with two crucial road tests coming up this week on Wednesday, May 14 at LAFC (10:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+) and at rivals Portland Timbers on Saturday, May 17 (9:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+ / FS1 / FOX Deportes).

Minnesota Get Their Statement Win Against Miami

In front of a packed Allianz Field, Minnesota United FC produced their best performance of the season, defeating Inter Miami CF, 4-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Loons’ victory saw eight different players either score or assist, which included a multi-assist performance from defender Nicolás Romero and Tani Oluwaseyi (one assist) adding his ninth goal contribution of the season.

Minnesota finished the weekend in second place in the Western Conference, sitting on 22 points with a 6-2-4 record. The 22 points through 12 matches is the second-best mark in club history behind only last season (24). The common denominator in both these instances has been head coach Eric Ramsay, who now boasts a 19-14-10 regular season record since joining the club in 2024 and looks to propel the club to their first trophy in the MLS era.
