MLS Cup Playoffs is Nick DeLeon time.
After the most productive season of his MLS career, his first with Toronto FC, DeLeon went out and delivered the game-winner over Atlanta United on the road in the Eastern Conference Final. With TFC and Atlanta tied 1-1, and the hosts piling on the pressure, DeLeon's moment of pure magic proved the difference in a 2-1 win.
Thanks to DeLeon's strike, Toronto FC are headed to MLS Cup and a meeting with Seattle Sounders.
It's far from the first time DeLeon stepped up in the postseason. In fact, just a few weeks ago, he came off the bench in Toronto's Round One 5-1 win over D.C. United with a goal and an assist.
Last year, his final with D.C., DeLeon came off the bench to fire a golazo in the 116th minute to equalize against Columbus Crew SC.
Way back in the day, DeLeon's rookie year, he announced himself to the league with an iconic goal against the New York Red Bulls. After the first leg was displaced to D.C. thanks to Superstorm Sandy, the second leg was to be played at Red Bull Arena though delayed a day due to a snowstorm, and DeLeon scored an 88th-minute winner to send D.C. through to the next round.
He's yet to win MLS Cup. Does he have one more moment in the bag for November 10 in Seattle against the Sounders?
