Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined an exclusive club Saturday night when the LA Galaxy forward scored his 500th career goal for club and country late in the first half of the Galaxy's match against Toronto FC at BMO Field Saturday night.
The LA Galaxy superstar joined Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the third active player to achieve that milestone.
And in true Zlatan style, he did so in stunning fashion, spinning to latch onto a chipped ball by Jonathan dos Santos and hitting a first-time volley with the outside of his right foot just outside the six-yard box.
The goal, Ibrahimovic’s 17th of the season, was the lone bright spot of the first half for the Galaxy, who surrendered three goals in the opening 36 goals before Zlatan’s magical, and historic, response.
Here’s a breakdown of how Ibrahimovic got to 500 career goals:
- Malmo FF (1999-2001): 18 goals
- Ajax (2001-2004): 48 goals
- Juventus (2004-2006): 26 goals
- Inter Milan (2006-2009): 66 goals
- Barcelona (2009-2010): 22 goals
- AC Milan (2010-2012): 56 goals
- Paris Saint-Germain (2012-2016): 156 goals
- Manchester United (2016-2018): 29 goals
