One week after coming up short in the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week voting, Chivas USA striker Erick "Cubo" Torres decided to up the acrobatics. And the drama.
Torres reacted to a deflected shot with an improvised, laid-out side volley just inside the right post against the Montreal Impact on Saturday, earning a third consecutive 1-0 win for his team and his first career AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award.
Torres won a dominant 44 percent of the vote, ahead of quality strikes from Vancouver's Sebastián Fernández, Portland's Diego Valeri, Dallas' Tesho Akindele and D.C. United's Nick DeLeon.
Final Votes (Week 17):
- Erick Torres (CHV): 44.11%
- Sebastián Fernández (VAN): 22.62%
- Diego Valeri (POR): 13.53%
- Tesho Akindele (FCD): 11.70%
- Nick DeLeon (DC): 8.04%
