Chivas USA remain without a head coach as the MLS SuperDraft approaches, but according to a club spokesperson, that situation might change soon.
The Goats officially began their search on Nov. 25 when head coach José Luis “Guero” Real took the same position at parent club CD Guadalajara.
“We are looking to finalize the candidate in the next week or two,” the spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com on Friday.
Despite the departures of Real and sporting director Francisco “Paco” Palencia, the Rojiblancos were relatively active in December, trading for midfielder Mauro Rosales and defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste. The organization also parted ways with sporting president Dennis te Kloese.
With the muddled state of management, the club has used a committee of “several people” in its coaching search, the club spokesperson said.

Real had a 3-12-6 record after replacing José Luis “El Chelís” Sánchez Solá, who went 3-7-5 in his three-month stay.
Chivas USA intend to hold an introductory press conference following the hire. Last year, Sánchez Solá was not formally introduced until opening weekend -- some two-and-a-half months after taking the helm.
As it stands, the new coach would not inherit an early draft selection. The Goats don't currently hold a first-round pick, having sent that slot to the Philadelphia Union in the Gabriel Farfan trade. Their first selection is set at No. 20 overall, which was acquired from D.C. United in exchange for forward Casey Townsend.
