Chivas USA announced on Tuesday the appointment of Arturo Gálvez (above) as the team's president and chief business officer, his latest post within the Chivas organization. Gálvez arrives at Chivas USA to replace former club president José David.
Gálvez has held a variety of management and directing positions with Grupo Omnilife-Angelissima-Chivas, acting as International director and legal director for Club Guadalajara in Mexico and Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica. He has also managed Clubes Unidos de Jalisco, a group based in the Mexican state of Jalisco that owns a professional soccer stadium and coordinates events and matches.
Gálvez boasts experience both in the soccer operations and business sides of the game, and was among those responsible for organizing the ceremonies for the 50th anniversary of Estadio Jalisco, the former home of Chivas Guadalajara.

Chivas USA’s new president was also involved the negotations surrounding the establishment of the team and helped owners Jorge Vergara and Angelica Fuentes acquire full control of the club in 2012. Additionally, Gálvez has experience negotiating broadcasting contracts for the Club Guadalajara and was involved in the process of rebranding the Mexican top flight as the Liga MX in 2012.
On the educational side, Gálvez holds degrees from the Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente in Guadalajara, a postgraduate degree from the Universidad Panamericana (Guadalajara), and the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economia (ISDE) from Madrid, Spain. At ISDE he was entitled with a master’s degree in sports management and international law.
