TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing
Chicago Fire FC have acquired midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili from Romanian top-flight side Universitatea Craiova, the club announced Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Georgian international is under contract through the 2028-29 MLS season with an option for 2029-30.
Mekvabishvili has tallied 15g/20a in 231 matches across Universitatea Craiova and Dinamo Tbilisi in his home country. He's won four club titles, including the Romanian double in 2025-26.
Internationally, Mekvabishvili has earned 33 caps with Georgia. He was a key starter during their Euros 2024 appearance.

Mekvabishvili is Chicago's second major signing this summer, following iconic Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Fire are third in the Eastern Conference (37 points) and on track for a second-straight Audi MLS Cup Playoffs trip.
