CF MontrĂ©al punched their ticket to the 2026 Canadian Championship final on Wednesday night, advancing 3–2 on aggregate over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.Â
Montréal secured a 2–1 win in the second leg at Stade Saputo, after a 1-1 draw at BC Place in the first leg.
Advancing to the final for the first time since 2023, they will host Canadian Premier League side Forge FC in the Oct. 21 final.Â
Forge FC eliminated fellow CPL side FC Supra du QuĂ©bec, 2-1, on aggregate in the other semifinal.Â
MontrĂ©al opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a penalty kick from Prince Owusu, before the Ghanaian added his second and eventual winning goal in the 45th minute on a breakaway.Â
Vancouver, who entered the tournament as four-time defending Canadian Championship winners, made things interesting with a goal from Emmanuel Sabbi in the 91st minute, but ultimately fell short of the final for the first time since 2021.Â
Montréal are seeking their sixth Voyageurs Cup title and first since 2021.
This year's winner qualifies for the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup. However, Montréal would also earn a Champions Cup berth if Forge FC win the Canadian Championship and secure either the CPL Supporters’ Shield or the North Star Cup.
