As the partnership between Major League Soccer and Liga BBVA MX continues to grow, others in the soccer business world are taking notice. Like, for example, Bundesliga CEO Christian Seifert.

At a meeting with reporters at Bundesliga headquarters earlier this week, Seifert expressed his eagerness to see what becomes of the partnership.

"What is happening in the United States and Mexico is probably the most exciting project in world football over the next 10 or 15 years ahead of the (2026) World Cup," Seifert said.

The initiative has already resulted in the creation of the Leagues Cup and has brought speculation over the possibility of a joint league competition.

After featuring eight teams in 2019, the Leagues Cup will expand to a 16-team field — eight coming from each league — in 2020.
