The Vancouver Whitecaps have re-signed center back/midfielder Andy Rose for the 2021 season, the club announced Wednesday.

The 30-year-old is entering his seventh MLS season, having spent 2012-15 with the Seattle Sounders and then the last two years with Vancouver. He also played overseas for Coventry City and Motherwell FC, leading to 241 first-team appearances as he enters one decade as a professional.

"Andy is a consummate professional and a mentor to our young players,ā€ Vancouver head coach Marc Dos Santos said in a club release. ā€œAs a member of the senior leadership group, Andy helps set the tone by his willingness to help the club wherever needed. We are very pleased Andy will continue to be a member of our club.ā€

Rose has featured in 119 MLS matches (72 starts), scoring six goals and supplying nine assists. Born in Australia and raised in England, he played for Bristol Cityā€™s youth teams before playing collegiately at UCLA.

Aside from playing for the first team, Rose will also be Vancouver's U-19 academy teamā€™s assistant coach alongside Nick Dasovic. Rose has already earned his UEFA A and UEFA A Elite Youth licenses.

ā€œI couldnā€™t be more excited to continue my career here in Vancouver,ā€ Rose said in a release. ā€œIā€™m really enthusiastic about the path weā€™re on as a team and am motivated to give our fans a season they can get behind. Iā€™m also excited to begin working with our U-19 group and thank the club for giving me the opportunity to gain valuable coaching experience. I think weā€™ve got some excellent young players and Iā€™ll do everything in my power to advance their careers.ā€
